We stayed at a
ritzy hotel - the Palmer House Hilton - this is the lobby. The
hotel went through a $170 million restoration, which included
the ceiling. It was restored by the same man who had restored
the Sistine Chapel. The ornate candelabra lighting fixtures are
solid gold. At the far end of the lobby (up the steps) is The
Empire Room, where many celebrities performed for years.

I get up at 2:30 in the morning most days and am on
the clock by 4:30 a.m.
and usually on the road within minutes after that. This is my
standard view out the front windshield at that time of day.

I am particularly fond of this shot of a sailboat
moored in the man-made harbor at Lexington, Michigan. Love the
composition.

When you're on the road as early as I am, you see a
fair amount of sunrises. This one is from M-46 heading east toward
Deckerville.

I just love the way the sunshine spreads its beams
around this cloud. As if it's saying nothing will keep it from
shining. This was taken from Interstate 69 heading east toward
Flint.
